It’s come to my attention that people are snooping around in this 
directory.
 
I understand that this is the internet, and that there is little in the 
way of a security guarantee. Still, the people snooping are not in the 
world at large, they are within our community.
 
You should know that I use this space as a convenience for everyone. I 
set documents here that people need and then put very specific links in 
emails sent directly to the interested parties.
 
THIS DIRECTORY IS NOT A WEBSITE FOR PEOPLE TO 
BROWSE FOR THEIR ENTERTAINMENT.
 
If I am unable to continue to use this space, I will have to start 
sending documents as attachments, or password protect the directory. 
Both of these options are undesirable to me as they complicate my 
interaction with both students and faculty.
 
It would be a shame for a couple of snoops to ruin this resource for 
everyone.
 
Just so you know. Since you are part of our campus community, snooping 
in this directory is exactly akin to your wandering down the hallway, 
finding my office door open, and then helping yourself to whatever you 
might find on my desk. I'm fairly sure you wouldn't do that. Rooting 
through this volume is the same.
 
I could get access to everyone's files on public. You wouldn't want me 
going through your volume there. Rooting through this volume is the 
same.
