RESEARCH PROJECTS IN EDUCATION ANALYTICS

I am currently using a mix of observational studies, pilot lab experiments, and in-vivo randomized control trials to study how one can use AI/ML to improve education and reskilling. In the past, I have also looked at how several technologies affect the performance of students in k-12 schools and colleges:

·      Impact of AI/ML on educational outcomes:

How can one summarize educational videos for reskilling purposes?

How do tools such as chatgpt change learning practice and processes?

Can facial recognition SW help improve the students’ learning experience?

What video characteristics best describe students’ willingness to keep watching?

·      Impact of technology on educational outcomes:

How do smartphones in the classroom affect students’ performance?

How does the introduction of wifi in college affect students’ performance?

How does broadband access in k-12 schools affect student’s performance?

Does wiring schools with broadband increase overall Internet penetration?

RESEARCH PROJECTS IN MEDIA ANALYTICS

I have studied several aspects of the entertainment industry, such as how streaming platforms, binge watching, peer influence, and recommender systems affect business models as well as consumer welfare. Most of my work in this line of research analyzes large scale datasets from in-vivo organic randomized control trials:

·      Impact of peer effects on the consumption of telecom services:

How does peer influence affect cellphone adoption?

How does peer influence affect churn and tariff plan choice?

How does peer influence and group-targeting affect churn rates?

·      Effects of streaming, binge watching and recommender systems:

How does binge watching affect the willingness to subscribe streaming services?

How does time-shift TV affect the consumption of TV and ad-avoidance?

How does the number of likes affect the consumption of movies in video on demand?

Do streaming platforms change the level of piracy of movies and TV shows?

What are the welfare effects of recommender systems in video on demand?

What are the welfare effects of changing lock-in periods in telecoms services?

How does peer influence affect the diffusion of products with network externalities?
