CD Case - milk carton
|
| 1.Tools needed for the job. The red China marker is actually not necessary. The marks made with water based pen can be erased with an erasor thanks to the lamination on the paper. | 2. The point of bamboo chopstick is carved to make a blunt point suitable for scoring the folding groove on the paper. | 3. Glue and news paper. Sobo Glue and Elmer's Glue-All work pretty good. |
4. Block and a sheet of wood to keep the presser on for secure glue job. | 5. Just one milk carton is enough. |
| 6. Cut the carton carefully with the exacto knife. Try to cut as streight as possible. | 7. Note that I am cutting on the seam. This helps to cut the box streight. It is important since for this project there is not much part of the box to waste. | 8. Similer ly cut the bottom open starting from the seam. | 9. Top and bottom are cut off. | 10. Cut out the streight edge on the top of the box. |
| 11. Cut off along with the seam. | 12.After folding the box, I realized that the top edgs part are not maching. | 13. This time using the print on the box as a guide to cut the streight edge. (I recommend skipping the 10. and cut this way from the begenning,) | 14 . Mark a line inside of the box at the edge. | 15. The mark on paper. |
| 16. Make another line using the streight edtge. This line is marked 1"1/2 from the top edge. This will be the folding line for the lid of the CD case. | 17. Place a CD as a guide. | 18. Make another line horisontally from the bottom | 19. Cut off the part you see on the picture. Make another lines to taper the lid. | 20. All the parts are cut out. |
| 21. Using the chopstick and ruler, score folding grooves. | 22. All the grooves are scored. | 23. Scrach the lamination o of the paper with the tip of the knife. Do it very slightly. | 24. Note that I am cutting a slightly insde of the edge. | 25. Using the tip of the knife peel off the lamination from the paper. This is necessary since the glue does not stick on the lamination. |
| 26. Keep scraping untill you get enough peeled to get a enough hold for your fingers. | 27. You can peel it off in one shot. Do this peeling job on all the seems, both sides where glue is going to be applyed. | 28. Apply the glue on where you peel the lamination off. | 29. Spread the glue and take away excess glue. | 30. Do this for both side of the seam. |
| 31. After placing the seams togather, put it on a flat surface and keep it under the pressure for more than 4 hours. | 32. After 4 hours, it's qute solid but not yet ready for the actual use. Now you can put the velcro on the lid and lay it for overnight. | |||
