Catherine Asaro's first novel, Primary Inversion, is a successful blend of hard science fiction and romantic adventure. Primary Inversion came out in hardcover from Tor in March, 1995, and Tor recently published a paperback edition. Primary Inversion made the 1995 preliminary Nebula ballot. Tor also published her novels Catch the Lightning (1996) and The Last Hawk (1997), both set in the same universe as Primary Inversion. She has published short fiction in Analog and anthologies. Dr. Asaro received her PhD in Chemical Physics and her MA in Physics, both from Harvard, and earned her BS in Chemistry from UCLA. She runs Molecudyne Research, where she does scientific writing and edits Mindsparks, The Magazine of Science and Science Fiction. A former ballerina, she still manages to teach dance classes now and then. Her husband is an astrophysicist at NASA. They have one daughter, an exuberant eight-year old.
