Alexis A. Gilliland earned a BS and MS in Chemistry, and spent two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Otherwise, he was born August 10, 1931, and married in 1959, and fathered two sons, Micha in 1963, and Charles in 1965. He retired from the Federal Supply Service in 1982, with 28 years of service. His first wife, Dolly, died in 1991, and he married Elizabeth S. Uba, or Lee, in 1993.
Alexis is a multi-talented writer of seven novels from Del Rey, and three collections of cartoons. He has won four Fan Artist Hugos for creating cartoons in their wild state and won the 1982 Campbell Award for Best New Writer.
