Myoglobin Structure
Myoglobin (1mbo.pdb) is the monomeric oxygen-carrier protein found in muscle tissue. This model shows myoglobin complexed with O2 at the Fe2+ center of the heme.

The starting Display is Cartoons; the Color is Structure.
The heme group is Spacefill; colored CPK.
The amino and carboxyl termini of the protein are labeled.
Note for Fall Term, 2000: The "Residues 85-100" Highlight button changes the display of these residues to Sticks with CPK coloring. This is the F helix and FG turn region to be examined for Problem Set #3. The rest of the protein is shown as Backbone colored Structure.
