b-Sandwich Structures Gallery The b-sandwich class of proteins are characterized by two opposing antiparallel b-sheets in their structures. They differ in the number of strands found in the sandwich motif and in the extent to which a-helices and other structures are present. The similarities and differences can be seen by viewing these six examples:
Viewing Tips: 1. Color the displays by Group to see the course of the polypeptide chain from N- to C-terminus. 2. Several of these proteins have important ligands and/or prosthetic groups; you can visualize them by selecting Ligand (under Hetero), followed by Spacefill, and then CPK. |
