Animal Rights and Vegetarianism: A Sketch of the Argument

The Facts. 
Animals suffer, like humans
We need not eat animals to dine well. 
 
So is our pleasure in eating meat to be balanced against their pain?

Or is that comparison absurd? 

Probably more people would be vegetarians if they had to kill their food
themselves.


Fish versus meat eating
	What exactly the difference?
Certainly fish suffer also
	They are lower animals- further from us
Their pain therefore? is less relevant

	Plants are different in kind- hard to imagine analogous view of them.

It is predictable that in the near future 
	With population pressures
animals will not be eaten.

Then people will be as horrified as we are by slave owners
