Research Methods in Social Psychology

NIH On-Line Ethics Training Course Instructions

  1. Go to the following web site: http://cme.nci.nih.gov/
  2. Enter, register, complete, print, etc

There are brief “chapters” covering each of the following topics:

  • History
  • The Basics
  • Informed Consent
  • IRB Review
  • Ongoing Protections

After reading each chapter, complete the short quiz (3-5 questions each). You can save your place by clicking on the "bookmark" icon before closing the program. When you come back, you will log in again, and then you will have the option to return to your bookmark.

When you're finished, you will be able to print out a certificate of completion. Make sure that you print this certificate immediately-- the system will not allow you to print it out at a later time. *** If you realize that you won't be able to print from the computer you're using, don't finish the course. Instead, you can bookmark your spot and then log in to the site again on a computer with a printer.

Give one copy of your certificate to Adam to get credit. It's a good idea to keep a copy of this certificate for yourself, too. You might need it for future classes, if you ever conduct research here at CMU, or if you are ever employed in a research setting.

If you have any problems with the assignment, please contact Adam Kramer (adk+@andrew.cmu.edu).
