Energy Balancing. MMD text chapter 3, problem 3.6. [Hint – recall from physics that the temperature of a material may be related to its energy content by its mass and its heat capacity. Since cells are mostly comprised of water, you may assume that the heat capacity of the cells equals that of water.] |

Information Flow and Control. I.V. Leeg, a rather rententive non-CMU biomedical engineer, is at a gas station, facing his car with a gas pump dispenser in hand. Now Iggy likes to max out his tank, so he attempts to fill his tank, despite posted warnings about topping off, so that the level of the gasoline is about two inches below the level of the gas tank cap. Sketch a control diagram for the process of Iggy
filling up his car’s tank at the station.
Identify/label the manipulated variable(s), the output variable(s),
the sensor, the transmitter, the controller and the actuator. What type of control is Iggy
exerting? Is the control discrete or
continuous? |
