The Polymer Materials Group is interested in the fundamental organizing principles and structure-property relations of polymer and polymer-based hybrid materials with the aim to contribute to the solution of contemporary materials science and engineering challenges. Pervasive to our work is to study the structure and dynamics of multicomponent polymer-based materials in solution and the solid state, to identify and harness concepts that transcend various classes of materials as well as to seek a collaborative approach to research that builds on the recognition that opportunities for technological impact often arise at the interface between traditional disciplines.
The group typically consists of material scientists, chemists and physicists and endeavors in experimental studies that typically involve synthesis, thorough characterization of structure and properties and to some extent model formulation and evaluation.
