Performance and Beyond
ACTING AND PERFORMANCE TECHNIQUE
Workshop for young people
TIME: Saturdays- February 9, 16, 23, March 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29
LENGTH OF SESSIONS: Each session will be from 3pm to 6pm.
WHERE: The John Collins Church, 2320 S. Bannock St.
MISSION OF WORKSHOP: To introduce students, ages 10-15, to assorted aspects of theatre, acting, and performance technique, including scene study, character analysis, stage combat, commercial tv and voice-over technique, interpreting a song (musical theatre), movement and mime, and improvisation. These classes will be taught by Ms. Lennie Singer, with assistance from Mr. Eric Peterson. They also feature many exciting guest artists to work with the students. All of the guest artists are specialists different aspects of the performing arts.
February 9: Character Analysis, including developing monologues both original and from plays
February 16: Scene Study, including characters developed from monologues
February 23: Interpreting a Musical Theatre Song featuring David Ross, music director as GUEST ARTIST!
March 1: Commercial TV, voice-over featuring a GUEST ARTIST
March 8: Stage Combat featuring "The Fight Guy" Geoff Kent as GUEST ARTIST!
March 15: Movement and Mime featuring a GUEST ARTIST
March 22: Improvisation and rehearsal for Recital
March 29: Rehearsal and Recital Performance**
**RECITAL PERFORMANCE: Students will perform various examples from each of the workshop specialties. Parents and friends will be invited to attend.
COST: $159 per student
