How to Get a CodeWarrior for Your Machine
What follows is a description of the steps we are going to follow to distribute
CodeWarrior to our students. Let me emphasize that this
procedure is ONLY for the students taking 15-100 and 15-111. Distribution
to the rest of campus will be different and I will deal with
it later on in the semester.
DIRECT INSTALLATION
This will take place Tuesday - Friday, from
4:30 to 7:30 pm in WeH 5419 A and B during the first week only.
Students should bring their laptops to 5419 A/B during those hours
and our staff will install the Java IDE in their computers. Also, the students
could bring their CPU too. In this case, we will provide the peripherals
(monitor, power cord, mouse, keyboard, etc.).
DOWNLOADING FROM A SERVER
The students will have access to a server where they can download the
Java IDE. In order to access the server, they will have to login using
their Andrew ID and password. This means that students who add the
course during the first week may not have access to the server for a couple
of days. David and Heather will update the list as often as possible.
Be aware that the Java IDE is pretty big.
It will take time to download it and we expect the server to be swamped
during the first two weeks of classes. So, the best thing to do is to bring
the computer to 5419.

FQDNs, to comply with the licensing requirements.
WHAT ABOUT 5419 C/D?
All the PCs in these two rooms have the Java IDE and JDK 1.3.
WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER PUBLIC CLUSTERS?
All those PCs have JDK 1.3 only.
WHAT ABOUT OTHER IDEs (C/C++, PalmOS, etc.)
We are not going to deal with these at this time. The idea is
to take care of the 100/111 students who only need the Java IDE.
