What does rousing reference discussions entail? It requires
each student to come to class prepared to share their professional reading
on four topics with the class. For each of the four topics, you will
need to perform a literature search; locate and read at least 3 articles
from your research and prepare a descriptive annotation and a summarization
of your thoughts for each article. To facilitate each discussion,
be prepared to share one of the 3 articles with the class. Assignments
should be turned in following each class discussion.
The Four Topics are:
1. Friday, March 17: Burnout
of reference librarians
2. Saturday, March 18: “Gaining cooperation” or marketing
of reference services.
3. Friday, April 14: The increasing complexity
of reference work.
4. Friday, April 15: Reference service:
What does the future hold?
