The next thing
that I tried was to limit my search to only English records. This command works in a lot of DIALOG
databases, but when it doesn’t work, the system indicates that the command is
ignored. If you look at the ERIC
Bluesheet (link provided), and hone in on the section of the Bluesheet that
discusses Limits, you’ll find no mention of a limit for English language
materials. Thankfully there’s another
way to handle the problem. Here’s a
mind bender! DIALOG will let you
search multiple files together. What
happens when one file accepts the “/ENG” limit and others don’t? Well, sometimes the search gets a little
messy. Preplanning your search is the
only good remedy.
