album notes: |
Lumen Christi was commissioned by the Benedictine monks of St. Procopius Abbey and performed as a world premiere on its 125th anniversary. The abbey was founded on March 2, 1885 to serve the large population of Czech and Slovak immigrants in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. Today the abbey serves a more eclectic community in and around Lisle. Its expansive campus includes the monastic community at the abbey, Benedictine University, and Benet Academy. The performance was made possible by grants from the Father Paschal Fund for Music Ministry and the Father Michael Fund for Art and Music at the Abbey. |
