Special Registration Instructions

Before July 23rd, call 1-888-456-6600 to reserve a room. Make sure you get the Convention Rate! If you have problems after hours, try calling (412) 471-4000, ask for Melissa Furlong, at extension 1303 to get the ConFluence rates. We apologize for the confusion.

Sleeping rooms during ConFluence are $85 a night. Sleeping rooms for your car are $11 a day, or $18 if you want in/out privledges. The Mellon Square parking garage, which is about 2.5 blocks from the hotel, charges $9.00 total from 4pm Friday until 6am Monday. If you get there before 4pm Friday, it is $10.25 for Friday, and $3 each for Saturday and Sunday. It has a fairly low clearance (stay tuned for details), so if you're travelling in a tall vehical, be warned! The ConCom is looking into other parking options, so keep watching this page! Look for Mellon Square Park on the "different" map below (click for the map).

The Steelhead Grille in the hotel, is among Pittsburgh's finest resturants. But if you prefer, you are only a few blocks away from just about any type of food you like, from McDonald's to the Top of the Triangle on the top floor of the USX Tower (the tallest building in Pittsburgh). We will have a map to local resturants in our con packet when you arrive.

The Marriott has valet parking which is nice because you don't have to remember where your car is! But it also means that you have to pay for parking. One way to get around this is to catch public transportation. The hotel is along the routes of the 81 A, B, and C on Centre Ave. Walk a block along Washington Place from the inbound routes of the 61 A, B, C, 71 A, B, C, D, 67 C, E, F, H, and J (Two blocks if you catch them outbound from Pittsburgh). For the Trolley at Steel Plaza and 77A, B, and C, walk a block east on Sixth Avenue to Center, then to the hotel half a block away. For the other buses, go a varying distance east on Sixth and you can't miss Centre and the hotel, Or catch a trolley at one of the other subway stops and take that to the Steel Plaza station (it's free if you catch it downtown, 60 cents from Station Square). If you don't live near a bus route, there are a lot of PAT Park-N-Rides where you can park for free. Just be sure you find one that has service to it on Sunday! Most of the area malls have bus service to town as well. (If you're interested, I got most of this information from the map on page 22 of the Bell of PA Yellow Pages for the Greater Pittsburgh Area, '96-97. The hotel is listed as the "Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh" near the Civic Arena on the right side of the map.)

Finally, here is a map to the hotel. Remember: the red X marks the spot!

Directions: From I-80: Take I-79 South to I-279 (Pittsburgh Downtown) to I-579. Take 6th Ave. exit to Washington Place. From PA Turnpike (I-76): Take exit 6 at Monroeville onto I-376 to downtown. Exit Boulevard of the Allies and follow signs to Civic Arena. Hotel is located directly across the street from Civic Arena on Washington Place. For a different (better?) map that takes longer to download (121K), click here. Look for the blue X on that one!

Enjoy the con!
