PARSEC is proud to announce its Third Annual Science Fiction and Fantasy writing contest, in conjunction with ConFluence '97.
PARSEC, the Pittsburgh area science fiction club, is offering a $100 cash prize to the best fantasy or SF short story. This year's theme is "virtual bridges," therefore each short story submitted must feature a "virtual bridge" in some way, shape or form that is integral to the story.
The best story will be published in the ConFluence '97 program book. Stories must be 3500 words or shorter.
There is no entry fee! The stories will be judged by members of the club. At the club's discretion, the second place winner may also receive a cash prize and be published in the program book. All publication rights revert to the author after Confluence.
This contest is open to anyone (pro or amateur) who submits a story of the correct length, and meets the topic restrictions. The manuscript must be double spaced, the title must appear on the top of each page and each page must be numbered. The author's name should not appear anywhere in the manuscript.
A title page must accompany the manuscript, which includes the author's name, address, and the title of the story. Stories may be submitted on a PC or MAC disk in a plain text format. Remember, the story cannot be longer than 3500 words. If you want your manuscript or disk returned, include a SASE with your entry. All submissions must be received by June 1, 1997.
Any manuscripts which do not adhere to the above guidelines will be returned unread.
Electronic submissions may be sent to jjwalton@telerama.lm.com (electronic submissions need not be double-spaced).
