Professors:

Bring domain expertise, but no training in pedagogy

Don’t know what solutions have already been developed

Don’t know how to find out

Don’t know where to apply for money to fund projects

No training in using the technology that exists -

No training in designing educational technology/software

No experience in developing educational software

- What hardware to buy

- What software to buy

- How much money to budget

- How much time to budget

- How many and which programmers/developers to hire

- How to find good programmers/developers

No training in assessing/evaluating pedagogy

The epxertise for all phases of using/creating education technology is present, but its in the form of several uncoordinated and underutilized pieces:
