Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania
The Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania has a regional collection
of books, personal papers, corporate records, organizational records,
photographs, maps, atlases, newspapers, film and artifacts that document
the people of Western Pennsylvania. The library and archives
collections contain 35,000 books and 10,000 linear feet of manuscripts
with strengths in corporate history, family history, women's history,
cultural organizations, and genealogy. The Historical Society
Headquarters is in the Senator John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History
Center in the Strip District. Exhibits are open daily 10-5, except News
Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. The
Library and Archives, located on the 6th floor of the History Center, is
open 10-5 Tuesday through Saturday.
