On this page are
many resources located in the libraries at Carnegie Mellon, as well as electronic
sources, that can help you get started on your research. Check subject-specific
encyclopedias to get an overview of your topic. Many encyclopedia articles have
footnotes that will lead you to additional sources. Use dictionaries specific
to engineering and mechanical engineering to familiarize yourself with terms
used in mechanical engineering literature. Handbooks are often useful for locating
data and formulae.
