FBI Interviews Lansberry. 1976
On January 16, 1976, LANSBERRY was interviewed in his room
at the YMCA by Special Agent X. He furnished the following information
during a general conversation with him:
He is the subject of constant harassment. He hears voices
via radio transmissions and is able to receive these transmissions because
of an electrode receiver which has been placed in his ear, a tooth or
his throat. Those responsible for these voices are HEW, CIA and the University
of Pittsburgh. Al three organizations wish to brain-control people. He
is a guinea pig for a large experiment. The aforementioned voices have
dictated thousands of letters to him and he transcribes these is longhand
and sends them out to various officials in all walks of life.
He has sent out 2,700 letters during the past several weeks
and 200 in the past three days. No one will escape these voices, if they
want to be heard. None of the letters contains threats because he has
a certain control over these voices that forbid them from forcing him
to threaten anyone in the letters dictated. The voices have even given
him the addresses of those who are to receive letters. He has received
very few replies, but one reply came from Director CLARENCE KELLEY, of
the FBI, who assured him that no files exist concerning him. Those to
whom he writes include Congressmen, newspapers and radio stations. All
of the letters are handwritten at his YMCA desk.
He is presently on welfare and receives $162 a month. Most
of this money is spent on writing equipment and stamps. He eats at the
local Salvation Army or wherever he can find a free handout. During one
period he went twelve days without eating because the voices forgot to
tell him to eat. These same voices tell him when to take a shower, and
they forgot, recently, for a period of about two weeks.
He is not on drugs and has never undergone psychiatric treatment.
He is a "high-cycle-hearing" person who has the capacity to
receive ultra-sonic messages. He continues to write because the letters
he writes are funny and he often laughs a lot while he is writing. Several
of the voices have a distinct sense of humor. HEW and the CIA have promised
to pay him for his writing, but no money has been forthcoming as yet.
He has no television, car, radio, clock, calendar or watch. He only does
what the voices tell him to do. Members of his family have forsaken him
and have forbidden him to return home. His wife does not want his young
daughter to see him "slowly going insane." He will refuse all
psychiatric treatment, because he feels there is nothing wrong with him.
He simply cannot get out from under the pressures of the voices from the
three organizations mentioned.
