Class Resources for Structured Query Language (SQL)
There are two lectures scheduled for SQL in 88-272. Since both are currently scheduled to be delivered by Professor Muhlberger, I do not know if he intends to post them on the web. There will also be five lab assignments on SQL scheduled towards the end of the term. Students can download the relevant lab notes and assignments by clicking on the 272 labs link.
Web Guides, Primers, and Tutorials for SQL
Below is a sampling of web primers available to help students with SQL. These resources should help students new to SQL to get a handle on the basics of SQL and how it is used to manage databases.
Introduction to SQL: One of the most thorough tutorials on SQL on the web. Originally by James Hoffman and now hosted by the Willcam Group, this tutorial is a good overview of SQL and its many features.
[Another] Introduction to SQL: Another site similar to the one above. Both have some good detail but neither has an interactive component.
SQL Tutorial & Interpreter w/ Live Practice Database: This site is nice in that it gives students an on-line opportunity to work with SQL and a set of exercises to complete. Good for getting basic SQL down pat.
A Gentle Introduction to SQL: Nice introduction which also gives students to work on SQL answers and compare their answers with the site authors' answers. Provided by Napier University in Edinburgh, UK.
SQL Command Tutorial: A slide show of SQL commands (looks like PowerPoint turned into HTML).
Database Central: This site contains a number of links to other tutorials and articles related to SQL and RDBM. Includes a link for an article on ASP and SQL integration.
These pages are relevant for the Fall 1999 semester. Any questions or problems with these pages
