On Monday, November 22, punk revival band Motion City Soundtrack will perform in Rangos Ballroom. Made up of guitarist Joshua Cain, drummer Tony Thaxton, bassist Matthew Taylor, moog player Jesse Johnson, and guitarist/vocalist Justin Pierre, the band formed in 1999 when Cain and Pierre were only in high school. Their debut album, I am the Movie, was released in 2003 by Epitaph Records, and featured song like "The Future Freaks Me Out" and "My Favorite Accident." Though Epitaph is the largest punk label, the band has a sound similar to emo bands The All-American Rejects and Jimmy Eat World.
Along with Motion City Soundtrack, the bands Me Just Being Me and As Patient Stars Align will also play. The performance, brought to Carnegie Mellon by AB Coffeehouse, will cost $5 to those with CMU IDs and $10 to those without. Doors open at 7 pm and the show starts at 8. Tickets are available at the UC Info Desk.
