Presentation of selected topics in the discipline with an emphasis on fundamentals. The course includes treatment of topics in mechanics and provides an exposure to environmental engineering. Problem-solving exercises within the course apply these concepts to integrate the steps of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation through individual and group projects that require attention to a broad range of issues. The course also exposes the students to issues related to engineering practice such as scheduling, evaluating risk, and making ethical decisions.
