57-432 French Literature and Repertoire

Units: 3.0 Department: Music Related URLs: http://www.cmu.edu/cfa/music This course examines French songs for solo voice. Representative works from 18th through 20th centuries will be studied in the context of music history, style and programmatic considerations. Classes consist of individual performance, listening to recordings, and group survey of repertoire. Reading and written assignments establish historical perspective as well as programming considerations.
