Centre Geritz, Philip, watchmaker and jeweler, Front near Washington Miller, Oliver M., watchmaker and jeweler, Centre near South This ad for Geritz & Wehrmann, watchmakers, is from the Freeland Tribune in 1890. The 1890 ad for W. J. Getz holds Getz up against "unscrupulous competition", adding that "a word to the wise is sufficient." 1886-1888 city directory Jewelry and watches in business listings: Forschner, Frank C., jeweler, 20 S. Centre Geritz, Philip, watchmaker and jeweler, 43 S. Centre The large ad at right comes from the 1890 Freeland Tribune and is strikingly similar to the Geritz and Wehrmann ad shown above from the same year. Wehrmann eventually moved to 85 S. Centre (old address numbering), at the location that would later be Marchetti's furniture store in the 400 block. 1889 mercantile directory Jewelry and watches in business listings: Geritz, Mrs. E. M. - Jeweler Getz, W. J. - Jewelry William Wehrmann was in business with Philip Geritz at least since 1890; here in this 1891 ad from the Freeland Tribune he is listed at the Central Hotel. 1895 Freeland city directory Watchmakers and jewelers in business listings: Geritz, Philip - Centre corner Front Keiper, William - 20 Centre Miller, Oliver - 90 Centre Wehrmann, William - 85 Centre This 1894 ad for Wehrmann comes from Carol Jones; that December he advertised in the Freeland Tribune for "a boy to learn the watchmaking and jewelry trade." The 1895 illustrated ad calls Philip Geritz the leading jeweler and practical watchmaker in Freeland and shows a very fine watchcase. He was now at Front and Centre, a location which would in succession house the jewelry/watch stores of Butterwick and then William Bachman, who was also an optician. 1897 city directory Jewelry in business listings: Butterwick, A. He carried an interesting range of goods. 1900-1901 city directory Jewelry and watches in business listings: Butterwick, W. L., jeweler, musical instruments, cor.
