Units:9.0
Department:CFA Interdisciplinary
Related URLs:http://www.cmu.edu

Dedicated to Filmothha - the hypothetical eleventh muse one devoted to cinema - this course analyzes ten films directed by world famous directors Reinfensthal, Renoir, Bergman, Scola, Scorsese, Allen, Fellini, and Jacopetti, among others. Each film is introduced by a distinguished specialist who will also lead a discussion following the viewing of each film. Participants will screen the movies, write about, and discuss extensive analytical commentaries concerning the interdisciplinary characteristics of the films and the literature written about them. Four workshops are also scheduled at regular intervals to offer the participants a forum for responding to the film presentations.
