Michael Moore's Slacker Uprising Tour will come to Carnegie Mellon on Tuesday, October 26. The tour is an effort to get millions of college students — a group that traditional does not vote in high numbers — to the polls in November.
The event was originally scheduled for earlier this month, but was cancelled because Moore contracted pneumonia. Andrew Moore, activities board chair, said Moore will speak in Weigand Gymnasium for 60-90 minutes beginning at 4:45 pm. A live simulcast will be shown in McConomy Auditorium and on cmuTV (Channel 17). Seating in McConomy will be first come, first served.
Tickets will be required for entrance to Weigand Gym. They will be distributed Monday in Merson Courtyard from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm, after which time they will be available at the UC Info Desk. Only one ticket will be given per Carnegie Mellon ID card. Beginning Thursday at noon, tickets will be available to the public, four tickets per person.
An Afternoon with Michael Moore is sponsored by the Activities Board Lectures. Moore is the director of controversial films Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11 and author of Dude, Where's My Country?.
10/15/04 Update: Tickets for the Oct. 6 scheduling of An Afternoon with Michael Moore are not valid for Moore's Oct. 26 event.
10/20/04 Update: This event has been rescheduled to 4:30 pm. Doors will open at 4:00 pm.
