62-405 Advanced Photography: Exploration Project

In consultation with faculty, each student will define a photographic project to be completed during the term. Students will have access to department's equipment and facilities: medium and large format cameras, digital cameras, Polaroid; all darkrooms--35mm, medium, and large format, color, and B&W "mural" (30"x40") darkroom. Although mastery of the basic photographic process is assumed, students are encouraged to explore unfamiliar equipment and techniques in this course. Instruction in new camera formats and techniques will largely take place on an individual basis. Process
on projects will be followed both in group critiques and individual meetings with faculty. 62-141 Black and White Photography I and 62-241 Black and White Photography II or equivalent experience. Special permission only. Contact Jen Morris at jmdr@andrew.cmu.edu for further information.
