This course is intended for non-musician students who have an interest in making music/noise/sound performance. Students will develop their own sound performances. Through class critiques of student performances, we will examine the concept of sound as a material with basic structural properties that may be manipulated space and time. Students will explore methods of composition, using various sound making tools to create music, noise, or sound performance. Discussions will be centered on current experimental music/noise as well as issues specifically related to student performances. Students will concentrate on all aspects of performance using varying techniques, equipment, and philosophies.
