| | 76-781 Writing for Multimedia
The effects of multimedia-the integration of images, sound, and text in an interactive user-based digital environment-on writing are profound: interactive applications have swiftly and permanently changed advertising, entertainment, documentation, training, and academics. This class prepares students to enter these changing and challenging fields. Through a variety of individual and group exercises, it introduces students to multimedia authoring by taking them through the multimedia design, writing, and production processes. This course prepares students to develop individual competency in multimedia software skills, a broader understanding of the multimedia development process, and experience working on a multimedia development team. The course is project-focused. After completing a series of individual projects, students will form small teams to work on projects that will be incorporated into the final class project. There will be two final projects: individually, students will create a digital portfolio that will showcase their work, art, photography, writing, etc.; as a team, the class will create a multimedia product for a non-profit organization. At the conclusion of the course, students will have: 7an understanding of multimedia concepts and skills as well as an awareness of how to apply them to planning and creating multimedia products; 7experience planning and developing individual and group multimedia projects and working with a client; and 7a basic understanding of project planning and management as well as the importance of collaboration and teamwork in multimedia production | |
