What’s your favorite tournament Mr. Yuk has gone to?
My favorite tournament was 2018 Tally Classic. Mr. Yuk came to take names as we were seeded well below our potential - and we knew it. We made a statement in our pool as we took UMass to universe and upset Central Florida on universe, qualifying Yuk for the bracket. After an emotional loss to UNC Wilmington, where we led for most of the game, Mr. Yuk broke seed and finished 5th, beating Georgia Tech and South Carolina. Mr. Yuk really lived up to its aspirations and this tourney filled us with excitement for the remainder of the season. What was your first experience with ultimate frisbee at CMU?
Born and raised in the Burgh, I started playing the friz junior year of high school when my volleyball friends finally convinced me to come to a practice. I was hooked and never looked back. I was so eager to play for Mr. Yuk that I looked them up and messaged the social chair, Foster, asking how to get involved. I was added to the email list before I even graduated high school and couldn't wait to start playing when I arrived at CMU. Fast forward to O-week when I skipped a bunch of the "required" orientation events and just played frisbee on the Cut, meeting all my new lifelong friends. Was or is there an ultimate player you look up to? I've always looked up to Joey Pickens. His work ethic and drive to win has never ceased to amaze and inspire me. Whenever I was feeling low on motivation, I would just watch Joey play, and I was ready to push that extra 10% harder. As soon as he got the disc, I knew he was looking to send it deep to me, so I drew up that extra energy and pushed myself to make the play. What was your favorite memory of Mr. Yuk (off-field)?

What is your favorite memory of Mr. Yuk (on-field)?
At day two of Fall Easterns I was guarding a player who had just faked deep and came under. I was already a little tired but was right on his tail and when the throw came up I knew it would be close. That's when I heard Eric Li from our sideline screaming "BID RICCI BID" or something and I closed my eyes and clumsily bid as far as I could with my arms outstretched in front of the guy. The disc ended up getting caught in the wind and thrown way over both me and the guy I was guarding, going to nobody in the end. Only when I was lying facedown in the grass did it strike me how hilarious that sequence of events must've looked from the sideline as tons of raucous laughter filled my ears. At that point, I did what anyone in my shoes would've done at the time--I got up, dabbed, and went to go play some killer D-line offense baby.Do you have a favorite cheer or celebration?
Although I am a big fan and supporter of the disc-flip-into-dab-spike combination, the “All Hail King Richard” celebration is my favorite one. What was your first experience with Mr. Yuk?

There were two that really stuck out to me. The first, of course, was being called Joel constantly and not realizing that it was referring to me. People really didn't let me go even a single week being my own person. Sheesh, this team am I right? The second was definitely playing pickup on the Cut. What first got you into ultimate frisbee?
I first heard about Ultimate Frisbee in high school gym class, but we never actually learned any rules except for not being allowed to move when you had the disc. We only had enough people interested to play 3 on 3 and none of us knew how to properly throw a disc. When I got to CMU I was ready to play club volleyball because that’s what I played in high school, but once I witnessed Ultimate After Playfair and saw Scott Shepard skying everyone and people catching discs with crazy layout grabs I thought, “woah this sport is super cool!”. Once Brian Duff taught me how to throw a flick and I learned more about the rules, I was hooked. Also shout-out to lifting buddy The Ton for getting me in the gym and teaching me how to lift! What concept/drill are you most excited to teach to Mr. Yuk?
I pride myself on my defensive knowledge and ability to incorporate lots of different looks over the course of a game and season. Whether it’s person defense or some kind of junk/zone it’s great giving players so many different options for all the different types of situations you can be put in.Most underrated tip for success at college ultimate tournaments?
Fundamentals are key. I have learned so much playing the game, but even more in the last year after helping to coach CMU last year and getting the chance to coach Temper this past summer that I have a deeper understanding about how important strong fundamentals are in order to get a team to the highest level of competition. Also, bring lots of extra socks. Halfway through the first day at a tournament a fresh pair of socks can go a long way to keep you feeling refreshed and re-energized to play in those 3rd and 4th games in a single day.Occupation | Teachers Aide |

Most underrated tip for success at college ultimate tournaments?
Caffeine pills can be a great ergogenic aide for people especially late in the day for those tough last couple of games. Use wisely especially if you’re not used to caffeine! What concept/drill are you most excited to teach to Mr. Yuk?
Mr. Yuk has a lot of potential to get really good at a few things. I want to help Yuk be relentless on offense, running defenses into the ground through possession based strategy and work constantly at practice to develop a flow that won’t stop moving on the field. Defensively, I want to slow offenses down with a creative zone look and be as smart as possible. In the college game, I believe we can get turnovers by being disciplined and using our brains just as powerfully as our legs. We may not be the most athletic or tallest team, but we don’t want anyone else to outwork us.What first got you into ultimate frisbee?
I got into Ultimate my senior year of high school in Atlanta after a few friends convinced me to come out to practice with our high school team. Baseball wasn’t working for me, and I picked up ultimate quickly. One practice turned into many more, and I never looked back! I found myself competing and training at higher levels when I got to UGA, and I find that I enjoy helping people get better in many fashions.
